Here is Aawen Design's 10 Top Tips on approaching a
Design Project
It is always a good idea to know what you are getting yourself
in for, clients often ask 'what do you need from me?'. Adrian Taylor, a
creative director at Aawen Design has put together these top ten
tips when approaching a project.
- Have a clear, well defined idea of your target audience. Age,
social status, sex etc.
- Do not try to be something for everyone, your message will
either get confused or be too bland.
- Ensure that each piece of marketing reflects your company's
brand values.
- Keep text down to a minimum. Concise, factual, intriguing,
plain speaking. Put additional information on-line.
- At all costs do not forget to put contact details on everything
you do - especially your web address!.
- Always display your logo in a consistent manner so viewers can
immediately link each piece of marketing to your company.
- When proofing, check, check and check again. Ideally have
someone else new to the project check too.
- Set a realistic budget and allow for extras such as
illustration, copy-writing, photography etc.
- Test any design work with your current clients to ensure that
it appeals to your target market.
- Be realistic in your expectations for untargeted, broadcast
marketing. On average this will net about a 3% response.
