Carnon Downs Flagship Design Guide Finally Revealed

Cornwall's first ever regional Design Guide is set to change the face of planning consent within the County. With the increased devolution of power to individual parish councils, a greater responsibility is being given to the largely volunteer parish planning committees throughout the Duchy. A clear and easily followed approach was needed to aid these volunteers in making the most informed decisions.

The new guide encompasses all the general and specific information required to make area specific committee decisions, without the need to wade through complex global methodology. In a collaborative effort between Cornwall Council and Feock Parish Council, with the addition of our graphic design skills at Aawen, a clear approach was developed to place all related information into a logical, straightforward format, which also linked relevant supporting data using a symbol and colour coded structure. The final guide is intuitive to use and includes a check list section to ensure all necessary agendas are covered.

The final guide was produced as both a folder, PDF download online and a wire bound version to maximize return on investment. It is hoped the folders will provide a cost effective and environmentaly responsible method of updating the document as new policies are brought in.
